The August edition of the Castro Art Walk is tomorrow with 17 art exhibits all across the amazing Castro Arts District in San Francisco.  You don’t want to miss it!


The Castro Art Walk is 5 - 8, and some businesses stay even later.  


Paper maps can be picked up in any of the participating stores. Feel free to tag us in any social media posts @castroartwalk and use hashtags #CAW #CastroArtWalk.

#1 Blackbird (2124 Market St):


Final Chance to see Artworks by Peter W. Harris and Evan Azher.  Please contribute to our giant coloring page located next to the pool table!

#2 The Academy (2166 Market St):

We hope you will join us tomorrow (Wednesday) evening from 6-9pm as we unveil our newest artist showcase, featuring works by Bill Samios. The event is free and open to the public on our Main Level at The Academy. There is some wonderful portraiture, large-scale canvases of birds and nature, and some neat surprises. Come by and say hello, and if you're interested, all of the art will be for sale!

#3 Flore Dispensary (258 Noe St):


Flore Dispensary will feature the work of Natalie McKean

#4 Art House SF (2324 Market St):


“I Am Because We Are” exhibit features amazing fabric and newspaper collages and acrylic paintings by the South African Tsholo “Splash” Motong.  "Ubuntu" is sometimes translated as "I am because we are", and Tsholo's work reflects that philosophy, the way of living and the way of creating.

#5 2358 MRKT (2358 Market St):


Friday Sept 6th 5-8 pm (we stay open till 10 pm) is the Castro Art Walk/ the 2nd Opening of the 'Showstopper Series'.  So if you missed out on the fabulous 1st opening, fear not art lovers, tomorrow is your chance. 66 amazingly talented artists, 84 pieces of artwork, all different sizes & styles. You'll definitely fall in love with this exhibition

Colette Hannahan. Colette is San Franciscan Painter who specializes in dreamy landscape paintings.

#14 How It’s Hanging (548 Castro St):  


Mike Kershnar is an internationally recognized artist and naturalist from California with deep roots in the culture of skateboarding.  A full time artist since 2006 Kershnar’s work seeks to be a signpost pointing towards the natural world and man’s search for meaning.

#15 Queer Arts Featured (575 Castro St):  


Queer AF is hosting a fundraising art auction with community art created on the Castro Theater film screen and framed with the original floorboards made by Devlin Shand and Nathaniel J. Bice

#16 Ruby’s Clay Studio and Gallery (552A Noe St):


ArtSpan’s San Francisco Open Studios at Ruby's Clay Studio & Gallery


Rachel Cox, Andrew DeWitt, Jane B. Grimm, Joseph McGovern, and Liz Worthy will host a group show of their ceramic work for ArtSpan’s 50th annual production of San Francisco Open Studios.  On view Wednesday, September 4 through Sunday, September 29.  Opening Reception & Castro Art Walk:  Friday, September 6 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  Artists Reception San Francisco Open Studios WEEKEND 2, Central + South:  Saturday, September 28 & Sunday, September 29 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM

#17 MAG Galleries (3931 18th St):  


MAG Galleries presents" for you or someone you know," the first solo gallery exhibition of Oakland-based artist Alice Wu. The exhibition includes more than a dozen abstract works at the intersection of textiles and sculpture, utilizing techniques Wu developed from twenty years of experimental garment construction and surface design.
